It is with great pleasure that we invite you to enjoy an evening of the finest music of India featuring "An Evening with Maestros / Concert 2010" at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Hall (DSO) on Sunday, September 12 beginning at 6 p.m. A social hour begins at 5:00 p.m.

The award winning virtuosos of Ustad Zakir Hussain and Ghazal King Anup Jalota have been described as brilliant and exciting in their presentation of both traditional and classical Indian music.

Tickets are $$250, $200, $100, $75--balcony seat tickets are $50 and $35.

"A Concert of Maestros" is FOMAPI's premiere fundraising event. This year we bring the unique experience of the rich music of India to an even larger audience. Music is a language onto itself and one that we can use to transcend cultural and ethnic boundaries as we join together to raise funds for our healthcare initiatives--what could be better?

The proceeds from this concert will support the mission of FOMAPI and the very worthy causes that it supports including the the MAPI free clinics and educational awareness as it relates to heart attacks, stroke and cancer.

MAPI Summer CME 2010

Building on the success of the MAPI Spring CME, Summer CME was a success.

The MAPI Summer 2010 CME, which focused on Clinical Update Medicine, was held on Sunday, June 13, at the Troy Marriott Hotel in Troy.

The Program began with registration and breakfast, and was followed by Welcome Remarks by MAPI President Dr. Yash Shah, M.D. and a conference overview by Summer CME Chair Dr. Rajwant Malhotra, M.D.

There were several breakout sessions on topics including: "Advances in the Diagnosis & Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis", "Pathophysiology of Pain and its Management in Painful Spinal Conditions", "Hypertension Update--A Focus of Achieving Blood Pressure Target" and "Paradigm Shift in Colon Cancer Therapy -- Bench Research to Clinical Milestone."

The MAPI Auxiliary program featured sessions on "Smart Wealth Management Decisions and Retirement Planning for Women" and "Hair Care."

Spring CME 2010 A Success

Dr Shah & Dr PatelThe March 28th CME Event was an overwhelming success and a large part of that can be attributed to the efforts of Dr. Suresh Patel and the entire CME committee. Pulling off such a successful day takes a great deal of planning and an attention to detail.

Thanks to their hard work, over 300 attendees took part in the sessions and enjoyed a morning of networking with their colleagues and our event sponsors and vendors. The presenters and moderators did an excellent job in providing those gathered with some of the latest information in Evidence Based Medicine.

Meanwhile, the Auxiliary presentations, culminating in a colorful and stylish fashion show, provided a morning of fun that will be long remembered by all who were there. Many volunteers made the morning run smoothly and every bit of help is appreciated, whether you were helping with registration, moderating a session, or modeling in the fashion show.

Once again, we have shown that the MAPI spirit of forging professional and social relationships is alive and well. Thank you again to Dr. Patel and to all who worked behind the scenes. It was a great way to spend a Sunday morning and we appreciate the time and effort went into orchestrating such a well-received and enjoyable event.

We look forward to seeing you all at our Summer CME Event on June 13th at the Troy Marriott. Until then, please contact any of us on the MAPI Board if you would like to get involved in one of our projects or if there is something we can do for you.
